The Book of Mould: A Guide To Reducing The Risk Of Damp

The Book of Mould explains what causes these issues in simple terms suitable for occupiers who have no property knowledge.

It then explains how to cure the issues, how to treat the mould, and when to seek expert help.

The Book of Mould is written in a down-to-earth style with practical advice on how to manage your home to reduce the risk of dampness and how to treat any mould that occurs when dampness exists. Ideal for occupiers in social housing and private rented housing and also for owner occupiers.

After completing formal training, the author researched the issues relating to mould, using, amongst other references, The British Standard on Control of Condensation in Buildings; The Building Research Establishment (BRE) Digest on Surface Condensation and Mould Growth; and the BRE report - Tackling Condensation. These documents all formed part of the author's continuing professional development post-qualification.

The author has worked for four decades in construction, and for most of a decade, during the 'mould season,' the author was involved in the investigation of and treatment of dampness in residential dwellings. This, together with personal experience of the issues of mould in dwellings, has given the author a wealth of practical know-how on mould defects.
